 The Arts: Then, Now, Forever | 国际部三年级探寻艺术的“前世今生”

我们如何表达自己?国际部三年级的师生选择了用艺术来表达自己。艺术可以通过各种形式和多种材料来表达——这是我们艺术单元的中心思想。每年到了艺术单元,我们都会思考,什么是“各种方法”,什么是“多种材料”,以及怎么“表达”。

How do we express ourselves? Our Year 3 students and teachers of the International Division chose the arts to express themselves. The arts can be expressed through a variety of methods and materials – This is the central idea of our Unit. Every year when the Arts Unit comes around, we reflect on what constitutes a variety of methods and materials, as well as how we express ourselves through them.


UOI:溯艺术源流・绘时空长卷

在短短六周的UOI课程中,三年级的每位学生都深度参与了全部18种艺术形式的设计与创作,按照时间线从古至今依次包括了:

Over the course of just six weeks, every Year 3 student fully engaged in the design and creation of 18 diffferent arts forms, exploring them in chronological order from ancient times to the present day:

跨学科:融学科之智・拓艺术之境

艺术的边界从不局限,跨学科的融合让本次艺术单元更具深度与趣味。艺术课上,同学们化身远古先民,用色彩与线条复刻洞穴画的古朴与神秘;数学课上,2D3D图形不再是抽象的符号,而是成为创作的基础,同学们精心设计出充满几何美感的作品;DT课上,大家充分发挥动手能力,利用学校提供的材料将数学设计转化为立体的艺术佳作;语文课与书法课的融入更添东方韵味,同学们学习水墨画的灵动意境,还在作品上挥毫题字,让笔墨书香与艺术之美完美交融。

Boundaries are meant to be broken, and transdisciplinary integration has lent greater depth and creativity to this unit. In art class, students became ancient artists, using colors and lines to recreate the simplicity and mystery of cave paintings. In math class, 2D and 3D shapes were no longer abstract symbols but the foundation for creation, as students designed works brimming with geometric beauty. In Design and Technology classes, students gave full play to their hands-on skills, turning their math-based designs into artistic masterpieces using a variety of materials. The integration of Mandarin and calligraphy classes added a distinct Asian charm students learned the vivid artistic conception of ink paintings and calligraphy in their works, seamlessly blending the elegance of brush and ink with the beauty of arts.

走出课堂,实践与探索让艺术学习更显鲜活。在field trip中,同学们沉浸式体验艺术创作,完成了古埃及艺术、抽象艺术、现代艺术等多主题的裸眼3D美术馆制作,用创新形式解锁艺术表达的更多可能。

Beyond the classroom, practice and exploration brought arts learning to life. During the field trip, students immersed themselves in artistic creation, producing a 3D art gallery featuring multiple themes including Ancient Egyptian Art, Abstract Art, and Modern Art, unlocking new possibilities for artistic expression through innovative forms.


成果展:聚创作之美・赴艺术之约

The Arts: Then, Now, Forever国际部三年级艺术单元成果展”于1216日如期而至,为全校师生与家长呈现了一场跨越时空的艺术盛宴!体育馆的每一步楼梯贴纸都是艺术史从古至今的时间线,一步一步从“古”走到“今”。

The Year 3 Arts Exhibition opened on December 16, presenting a spectacular art feast spanning time and space to teachers, students, and parents across the school! Every step on the gym stairs was marked with signs depicting the arts history timeline, guiding visitors on a journey from ancient times to the present day.

本次成果展共设18个特色展位,以艺术史时间线为脉络,每一个展位都承载着三年级小艺术家们在艺术单元中的学习沉淀与创意表达。他们用自己的创意勾勒出的艺术发展的清晰脉络,让“The Arts: Then, Now, Forever”的主题变得可触可感。

The exhibition featured 18 unique stations, organized along the arts history timeline. Each station showcased the learning outcomes and creative expressions of Year 3s young artists throughout the unit. Through the students‘ creativity, they mapped out a clear evolution of arts, making the theme The Arts: Then, Now, Forever tangible and accessible to all.


每个展位的三年级学生们都成为了本组艺术时期的专家,热情地向前来参观的其他年级同学、老师以及家长们讲解该时期的艺术形式与代表,同时每组都精心准备了与主题相关的互动活动,让嘉宾沉浸式感受艺术的魅力。

At each station, Year 3 students acted as experts on their assigned art period, enthusiastically explaining the art forms and representative works of that era to visiting students, teachers and parents. Additionally, each group prepared interactive activities themed around their art period, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the allure of arts.


同时,我们还选取了三年级学生们本单元的一些艺术作品,印制成了精美的独家限量明信片,希望赠予参观者们美好的艺术纪念。

At the same time, a selection of the Year 3 studentsartworks from this unit was turned into  limited-edition postcards, offering visitors a beautiful memento of their artistic experiences.

作为IB强调的“Taking Action”的重要组成部分,同学们还运用各类手工材料装饰了校园里的一棵棵树木,让艺术走出展厅,将艺术之美传递到校园的每一个角落。

As a key process of the inquiry cycle, students also used a variety of craft materials to decorate the trees across the campus as part of their “Taking Action”. This initiative brought the arts outside of the exhibition hall, spreading the beauty to every corner of the campus.


从艺术史的探索到跨学科的实践,从作品创作到校园美化,三年级的同学们在本次艺术单元中不仅收获了艺术知识与创作技能,更培养了审美能力、合作精神与实践意识。The Arts: Then, Now, Forever,艺术的传承与创新永不停歇!

From exploring arts history to engaging in transdisciplinary practices, from creating artworks to beautifying the campus, the Year 3 students not only gained knowledge and skills throughout the unit, but also developed their aesthetic appreciation, collaborative spirit, and sense of initiative. The Arts: Then, Now, Forever the inheritance and innovation of art will never cease!
